Help Identify the type of chip on your windscreen:
McCarthy Windscreens can repair most chips on windscreens but if the windscreen is cracked or the chip is larger than a 2euro coin, the damage does not suit a glass repair and the windscreen should be replaced. Other things that affect repairs are their location on the windscreen as stone chips in drivers vision area cannot be repaired due to NCT repair Guidelines, all repairs must meet BS Codes of Practice BS AU242 & BSAU251. For a better chip repair we never repair chips if they are wet.

Acceptable limits
ZONE A Damage that can be contained within a 10mm diameter circle (maximum of two defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).
ZONE B Damage that can be contained within a 20mm diameter circle or hairline cracks up to 30mm long (maximum of two defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).
ZONE C Damage that can be contained within a 40mm diameter circle (maximum of three defects provided they are more than 100mm apart).
NOTES
- The vehicle should be failed where damage is beyond the above limits.
- Damaged windscreens may be repaired provided the repairs meet the requirements of Codes of Practice S AU242 and BS AU251.
- Light scratching which does not obscure the driver’s view should be ignored.
Replacement Glass
If you have no windscreen cover the price will be dependent on the type of glass you need, and the make and model and year of your vehicle.

Crack Repair:
If the crack on your windscreen is larger than a 10 cent coin you will probably have to have to replace the windscreen. Our experienced staff will be able to advise you

Windscreen Replacement:
We have a large range of windscreens in stock and can replace glass on the same day should we have the glass in stock or get the call early in the morning or the latest the following day. We will need to know if there are any special features on your windscreen such as heated, sensored (your lights & wipers can be set to come on automatically or do so already)or camera, lane changer or emergency driver assist. A photo can help with this if you are unsure.
Rear Screen Replacement:
We have a large range of rear windscreens in stock and can replace glass on the same day should we have the glass in stock or get the call early in the morning or the latest the following day. We will need to know if there is a wiper hole through the glass, if window is an opening window and if privacy tinted (darkened glass).
Side Glass Replacement:
We have a large range of rear windscreens in stock and can replace glass on the same day should we have the glass in stock or get the call early in the morning or the latest the following day. We would need to know if the vehicle is a saloon, hatchback, estate or MPV Model and if 2,3 or 4 or 5door.
Glass Specifications:
All Automotive glass supplied by McCarthy Windscreens carries the E2 stamp as is per manufacturers standard. All materials used during installation are in accordance with O.E Specifications. We use American 20/20 Vision as our windscreen repair product.
Glass Bonding:
Since the direct glaze method was introduced as a technique for bonding glass in cars the glass has become a structural part to the car body contributing to the torsional stiffness and thereby improving road holding. McCarthy Windscreens use the highest quality bonding material which includes high modulus where appropriate.
